Fresh developments have emerged in the Maharashtra doctor suicide investigation as Bhagyashree Pachangne, a devastated mother from Satara, claims her daughter’s postmortem report was manipulated under duress. The physician involved, who tragically took her own life, is alleged to have been pressured into endorsing a fabricated postmortem report—unveiling a troubling nexus of corruption within Maharashtra’s medical and law enforcement sectors.
Bhagyashree Pachangne contends that her daughter, Deepali Maruti, did not end her life as reported; instead, she suspects foul play that involves her son-in-law, Ajinkya Hanmant Nimbalkar, an Indian Army officer, and his family. The case has taken on a new dimension, with allegations from Bhagyashree that Deepali endured ongoing emotional and physical abuse in her in-laws' household. Given that she was six months pregnant and had a young daughter, the family's concerns over her untimely demise on August 19 have fueled suspicions of murder.
Upon finally receiving Deepali’s postmortem report—nearly a month after her death—Bhagyashree claimed it looked completely fabricated. She asserted that the physician, before ending her own life, was compelled to sign off on that document under immense pressure from individuals connected to the accused. “My daughter wouldn’t have taken her own life. She was vibrant, caring, and devoted to her kids. I believe she was murdered, and the truth is being suppressed,” Bhagyashree expressed emotionally.
In a shocking turn of events, the deceased physician’s suicide note, written on her palm, implicated police sub-inspector Gopal Badane in sexual assault and software engineer Prashant Bankar in relentless mental torment. She also referenced a former MP in a separate four-page letter, alleging that political insiders coerced her into falsely declaring one of the accused, Malhari Channe, as medically fit. This has ignited a political firestorm in Maharashtra, with opposition parties accusing the government of protecting influential individuals.
A family member revealed to the Press Trust of India that the doctor faced constant pressure from “political figures in Phaltan” to modify medical records and postmortem reports. “She raised concerns multiple times about PSI Badane's actions, but no one took her seriously,” they stated, revealing the physician’s escalating distress. Consequently, the Maharashtra doctor suicide case has become emblematic of how power, intimidation, and silence can shatter lives.
In response to these allegations, authorities have detained software engineer Prashant Bankar, accused of mental harassment, while PSI Gopal Badane, linked to the sexual assault claims, has surrendered and been suspended. Police have opened cases of rape and abetment of suicide against both men. The controversy continues to be front-page news, with demands amplifying for a thorough investigation and justice for both the deceased doctor and Deepali.
Bhagyashree Pachangne’s calls for truth and justice have sparked significant resonance across Maharashtra. Her heartfelt remarks—filled with sorrow and resolve—have added urgency to the inquiry. “My daughter was six months pregnant. She had a small child. No mother should have to fight this battle alone,” she lamented.
As the Maharashtra doctor suicide case develops, the state remains on edge. Will justice be served, or could this case be added to the list of tragedies silenced by power and fear? For now, Bhagyashree’s voice serves as a tribute to the relentless fight for truth every mother faces against the waves of power, pressure, and corruption.
