A Singaporean couple was arrested after authorities found controlled drugs and drug-related equipment inside their home in Marsiling, where their two young sons were also present. The 25-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were taken into custody by officers from Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) during a raid carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, Aug 11, at a residential unit near Marsiling Lane. According to the CNB, officers recovered small quantities of several drugs from different parts of the flat. The substances seized included cannabis, Ice and ecstasy, along with various items associated with drug consumption.
The two children, aged three years and seven months, were inside the master bedroom when officers discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia there. The authorities said steps were immediately taken to safeguard the children. They have since been placed under the care of their next-of-kin while investigations into the incident continue. The presence of young children in an environment where drugs were allegedly being kept has raised serious concerns about their safety and exposure to controlled substances.
Superintendent Xanthus Tong, deputy commanding officer of Enforcement "J" at the CNB, stressed that the impact of drug abuse extends beyond the individuals involved. He said drug-related harm can affect entire families and loved ones, particularly children who may be exposed to dangerous substances or drug-related equipment. The CNB said it would continue taking firm enforcement action against people who expose children to controlled drugs or drug paraphernalia.
Authorities also reminded parents and caregivers that children must be kept away from drugs and the dangers associated with them. Under Singapore law, individuals aged 21 and above may face prosecution if they expose a child to controlled drugs or drug-related paraphernalia. Legal action can also be taken against those who allow a young person to consume controlled drugs or fail to take reasonable steps to prevent such consumption. The warning highlights the legal responsibility adults have to protect children from environments involving illegal drugs.

The CNB said its investigation into the couple’s suspected drug-related activities is still ongoing. Further details may emerge as investigators examine the seized substances, drug paraphernalia and circumstances surrounding the raid. The case has also drawn attention to the broader risks faced by children when adults engage in illegal drug activity inside the home. Authorities have reiterated that Singapore drug laws carry strict penalties and that protecting children from drug exposure remains a key enforcement priority.
