Sri Lanka is exploring cooperation with Belarus to strengthen its transport modernization programme. The initiative aims to utilize Belarusian technology and expertise to improve the country’s transport infrastructure.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Bimal Rathnayake and Alexei Lyakhnovich. Both sides focused on expanding collaboration in transport development and enhancing technological exchange.
Officials also discussed the possibility of signing an air services agreement between the two countries, which is expected to improve connectivity and open new opportunities for travel and trade. The agreement could play a key role in strengthening bilateral relations.
In addition, the talks highlighted opportunities for training Sri Lankan professionals at the Belarusian State Transport University. This step is expected to boost skills development and support long-term growth in the transport sector.
