Political circles across Telangana were left mourning after Tanneeru Satyanarayana Rao, the father of former minister and Siddipet BRS MLA T. Harish Rao, died in Hyderabad early Tuesday. Family members said he succumbed to age-related health complications, prompting widespread condolences from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and leaders from other parties.
Family sources noted that Mr. Satyanarayana Rao hailed from Kothapalli village in Karimnagar district and had been unwell for some time. He was widely remembered for his modest lifestyle, disciplined conduct and steady commitment to serving his community—qualities that earned him respect in his native village and beyond.
Relatives, friends and political associates assembled at Harish Rao's Kokapet residence, where the body lay in state for visitors to pay respects. Emotional gatherings were reported as supporters and BRS workers called to offer condolences. The family confirmed that the funeral rites will take place at the Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Film Nagar on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior figures across the political spectrum shared their sympathies, including BRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. KCR, who had a longstanding relationship with the family, described Mr. Satyanarayana Rao as a man of integrity and warmth, phoning Harish Rao to convey his condolences and is expected to visit the bereaved family.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy offered his sympathies to Harish Rao and family, expressing sorrow at the loss and praying for strength for those grieving.
KTR personally paid his respects at Harish Rao's home, laying floral tributes and announcing the suspension of BRS events and the Jubilee Hills by-election campaign for the day as a mark of respect—underscoring the party's sense of loss.
Other public representatives who expressed condolences included Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad, Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and D. Sridhar Babu, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and senior BRS leaders such as Jagadish Reddy, S. Niranjan Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and P. Sabitha Indra Reddy.
Residents of Kothapalli recalled Mr. Satyanarayana Rao as a gentle, helpful presence in the village, someone many turned to for support. His death has cast a sombre mood over the local community, where he was regarded as a pillar of guidance.
Harish Rao, known for his close rapport with constituents in Siddipet, has received an outpouring of support from colleagues, party workers and ordinary citizens. Since morning, hundreds have visited his residence to express solidarity and share condolences with the family.
As tributes continue across Telangana, the family and supporters are mourning the passing of Tanneeru Satyanarayana Rao—whose life left a lasting imprint on both his community and the wider political landscape of the state.
