Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) has launched a new training program aimed at strengthening the capabilities of officials responsible for enforcing the country’s Computer Crime Act. The initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve online safety and respond more effectively to rising cybercrime threats.
The training program officially opened on May 27, 2026, with Acting Lieutenant Colonel Thanasit Eiamananchai, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, presiding over the ceremony. The event was held at the Best Western Nada Don Mueang Airport Hotel in Bangkok.
According to ministry officials, the program is designed to improve the knowledge, understanding, and operational skills of personnel involved in handling online crime cases. Authorities said the growing complexity of digital threats requires law enforcement teams to stay updated with modern cyber investigation methods and legal procedures.
The training is part of a larger government project focused on improving assistance for citizens affected by online crimes and digital threats. Officials aim to ensure that personnel can provide faster, more accurate, and standardized support to victims of cyber fraud, online scams, hacking, and other internet-related offenses.
Participants in the course are expected to receive guidance on legal procedures under the Computer Crime Act, digital evidence handling, cyber investigation techniques, and inter-agency coordination. The program also emphasizes improving communication and public assistance services for citizens facing online security issues.
Thailand has seen a significant rise in online fraud, fake investment schemes, phishing attacks, and social media scams in recent years. The government has responded by increasing cyber security awareness campaigns and strengthening legal enforcement mechanisms against digital crimes.
Officials from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society stated that effective cybercrime enforcement requires both advanced technical knowledge and close cooperation between agencies. The ministry believes better-trained personnel will help improve public trust and strengthen the country’s digital security system.
The government continues to prioritize cyber security and digital governance as Thailand expands its digital economy and online services. Authorities say further training programs and technology upgrades are expected in the future to address evolving cyber threats.
