Thailand is taking strong steps to boost its fruit exports and support farmers by launching an aggressive live commerce campaign. The initiative is being led by Supajee Suthamphan, who aims to increase demand before large quantities of fruit enter the market.
The strategy focuses on selling fruits such as durian through online platforms in advance. This helps manage supply efficiently and prevents sudden drops in prices when large harvests arrive. The government wants to ensure a smooth flow of goods from farms to markets.
From mid May, a large supply of durian from eastern Thailand is expected to enter the market, followed by other seasonal fruits. By creating demand early, the government hopes to reduce the risk of oversupply and maintain stable prices for farmers.
Thailand has already shown strong performance in fruit exports. In 2025, the country exported over two million tons of fresh fruit, with a total value exceeding 171 billion baht. Major export markets included China, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
In the first three months of 2026, export growth has been even stronger. Fresh fruit exports increased significantly, with durian exports alone recording very high growth. This highlights the strong global demand for Thai fruits.
The government is also working to expand international market access. Business matching events have been organized to connect Thai exporters with foreign buyers. These events have already generated significant trade value and opened new opportunities for producers.
Efforts are also being made to improve logistics and transportation. Officials have visited key border areas and trade routes to ensure that fruits can be transported quickly and efficiently to major markets such as China.
Several promotional campaigns are planned both online and offline. Thailand will participate in major international trade events and organize fruit promotion activities in multiple cities, especially in China, which remains the largest market for Thai fruits.
In addition, online platforms such as Amazon and Rakuten will be used to sell Thai fruits globally. This digital approach helps reach more customers and increases international visibility.
With these combined efforts, the government aims to increase fruit export value by five percent this year, targeting a total of 179 billion baht. The plan is expected to benefit farmers by improving income stability and expanding global market reach.
