The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has officially confirmed that the news regarding an increase in welfare card payments is true. Eligible citizens in Thailand will receive an increased amount of 400 baht for a limited period.
The revised payment will be effective from April 13 to May 12, 2026. This temporary measure aims to support vulnerable groups facing rising living costs, particularly due to global economic pressures linked to ongoing international conflicts.
The decision follows cabinet approval on April 11, 2026, as part of a broader initiative to ease the financial burden on approximately 13.22 million welfare card holders. The spending limit for essential goods has been raised from 300 baht to 400 baht for one month.
Officials clarified that this announcement has been verified by the Thailand Anti-Fake News Center, which continues to monitor misinformation circulating online. The agency reported thousands of messages flagged for verification, highlighting the growing challenge of fake news.
Authorities also identified several misleading and false claims circulating on social media, including fake job offers, financial scams, and exaggerated reports related to national issues. These cases underline the importance of verifying information before sharing.
The ministry urged the public to rely only on official sources for accurate updates and warned against spreading unverified content. It emphasized that misinformation can lead to confusion, financial losses, and broader social impact.
Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious news or misinformation through official channels, including the hotline and the Anti-Fake News Center website, to help maintain public awareness and information accuracy.
