Thamma, the latest horror-comedy produced by Maddock Films, has been performing exceptionally at the box office, despite experiencing a slight dip during the weekdays. Launched during the Diwali festival, the movie has captivated audiences in both India and abroad, bringing its total global earnings close to the significant ₹100-crore milestone after just four days.

Within India, Thamma has accrued ₹65.15 crore net (₹78.20 crore gross) in its first four days. The film debuted with an impressive ₹24 crore on Diwali, showcasing the high turnout of festival-goers. Although collections dropped gradually in the subsequent weekdays, the reductions were manageable, remaining at 25% or lower each day. By Friday, the net earnings for that day stood at ₹9.55 crore, indicating consistent weekday performance despite a minor post-festival decline.

Globally, Thamma had a slow start, given that Diwali is not celebrated in key international markets. However, as the weekend commenced, the movie gained traction, generating nearly $1.6 million within the first four days. Early projections suggest it may exceed $3 million by the week's end, showcasing the increasing global allure of Indian horror-comedies.

Thus far, Thamma’s total earnings worldwide stand at ₹93 crore, already surpassing the lifetime revenue of Maddock Films’ recent romantic comedy, Bhool Chuk Maaf, which concluded its journey at ₹89 crore. Industry experts anticipate Thursday will be the day Thamma comfortably crosses the ₹100-crore threshold, affirming its status as a box office triumph in the horror-comedy sector.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the plot of Thamma centers on a journalist played by Ayushmann Khurrana who finds himself entangled with vampires portrayed by Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. This film is a part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, connecting it with successful films like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. The storyline skillfully intertwines horror and humor, bolstered by impressive visual effects and notable cameo performances that enhance its attractiveness.

Critical reception has commended the film’s distinctive take on horror comedy, noting its engaging narrative, witty humor, and strong ensemble performances. The incorporation of Diwali themes within the storyline aided in securing a robust opening day in India, while global audiences are positively engaging with its universal elements of suspense and comedy.

The gradual decline in weekday earnings is typical for festive releases. Analysts assert that Thamma’s capacity to maintain decreases of 25% or less daily is indicative of strong word-of-mouth and audience loyalty. This is crucial for preserving box office traction beyond the initial excitement and can play a significant role in its final gross.

International growth during the weekend indicates that the film resonates well with both the Indian diaspora and global viewers who appreciate Indian horror-comedies. Traditional markets such as the UAE, USA, and UK have contributed significantly to global earnings for Indian films, and Thamma’s performance fits in line with that narrative.

In summary, Thamma’s combination of robust domestic performance, international interest, engaging storyline, and star-studded cast has established it as a noteworthy addition to the 2025 release calendar. With its current upward trajectory, the film looks all set to cross the ₹100-crore mark globally and further reinforce the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe as a successful entity in modern Indian cinema.
