Nagoya Hit by Heavy Rain as Storms Cause Power Outages

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms struck several areas across Japan's Tokai region on the afternoon of July 28, affecting Nagoya City and nearby locations. The severe weather caused difficult conditions and led to widespread power outages in parts of Aichi and Gifu prefectures.

In Nagoya City's Higashi Ward, loud thunder was heard and large raindrops began falling heavily at around 2:00 p.m. Roads in the area were lashed by intense rainfall as the storm moved through the city.

Unstable Weather Brings Widespread Thunderstorms

The weather across the Tokai region became unstable due to the influence of a trough of low pressure combined with moist air. These conditions triggered heavy rain and thunderstorms across a wide area during the afternoon of July 28.

The unstable atmosphere resulted in persistent rainfall in multiple locations, creating disruptions across the region.

Thousands of Households Lose Electricity

According to Chubu Electric Power Grid, the thunderstorms and related weather conditions caused significant power outages.

More than 4,300 households in Aichi Prefecture lost electricity, while approximately 3,500 households in Gifu Prefecture were also affected by power outages linked to the storms.

Heavy Rain Expected to Continue

Weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled, with heavy rain forecast to continue in parts of the Tokai region until late into the night.

Authorities continue to monitor the weather as the region experiences ongoing rainfall and thunderstorms.
