Former US President Donald Trump has announced that the 90-day pause on new trade tariffs will officially end on July 9, with no plans for an extension. Countries around the world will soon receive formal notices informing them of upcoming tariff increases, which could range between 10% to 50%.
“We’ll assess how each country treats the US. Some will get higher numbers,” Trump said during a televised interview. The letters, he added, will clearly state the new trade conditions for accessing the US market.
Trump acknowledged that reaching 90 individual trade deals within the pause period was unrealistic, but emphasized that the US will proceed with penalties unless fair agreements are reached.
Trump also revealed that a group of wealthy American investors is in the process of acquiring the popular Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok. While he declined to name the buyers, he indicated that China’s President Xi Jinping may need to approve the transaction.
“We have a buyer for TikTok, I’ll share details in about two weeks,” he said. The development follows Trump’s previous executive order that granted the platform a third 90-day extension to continue operations in the United States.
In another major claim, Trump stated that recent US military action had “obliterated” key Iranian nuclear facilities. He criticized recent intelligence leaks suggesting the damage was only temporary, saying that those responsible should face legal consequences.
Iranian leaders pushed back strongly. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called Trump’s comments exaggerated and misleading, while Iran’s UN envoy insisted the nuclear program remains peaceful. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that while there was significant damage to the sites, it was not “total,” and denied any pressure to alter findings.
In a shift from his typically strict immigration stance, Trump floated the idea of a “temporary pass” for farm and hotel workers. He emphasized that while criminal offenders should be deported, businesses—especially in agriculture and hospitality—need stable labor to function.
“I’m the strongest on immigration, but I’m also the strongest on supporting farmers,” Trump said. His remarks come after the government temporarily paused immigration raids in sectors heavily dependent on migrant labor. However, the Department of Homeland Security maintains a firm position on enforcement.
