On Friday, US President Donald Trump delivered a pointed warning to Iran, emphasizing that the nation is in serious jeopardy as protests escalate across various cities.
During a press briefing, Trump observed that demonstrations have surged into regions previously deemed stable. He noted that this surge reflects a significant pushback from the Iranian populace against their government.
“Iran’s in big trouble,” Trump remarked. “It seems to me that the citizens are reclaiming cities that weren't thought possible just a short time ago.”
When prompted about his guidance to Iranian officials, Trump cautioned against clamping down on protesters. He affirmed that the US would take action if Iranian authorities resort to lethal measures.
“You better not start shooting because we’ll start shooting too,” he sternly warned.
Trump further pointed out that should Iran’s leadership commence killing protesters, as has been previously reported, the US would respond, though he specified this wouldn't imply deploying ground forces.
“That doesn’t mean boots on the ground,” Trump explained, “but it signifies striking them hard where it truly hurts.”
These comments come amidst ongoing unrest in Iran, where protests are rising against governmental authority, attracting global attention.
