A captivating evening of classical music unfolded at the Maya Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory, where a chamber concert brought together renowned performers and emerging talents. The event highlighted the richness of classical traditions while also celebrating modern interpretations and youthful artistry.
The concert opened with a deeply emotional performance by Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Leyli Okdirova, who presented a collection of works by Nury Halmamedov titled “Unheard Songs of the Children of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.” Her powerful coloratura soprano voice beautifully captured the delicate emotions embedded in the poetry, leaving a strong impression on the audience.
The program continued with elegant sonatas by legendary composers Robert Schumann and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performed with finesse by talented violinists Alan Kasymov, Selime Shaberdieva, and Latifa Rahimova. Their performances reflected both technical mastery and artistic sensitivity, contributing to the concert’s refined atmosphere.
Adding further depth to the evening, People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Gulnar Nuriyeva delivered powerful arias from operas composed by Modest Mussorgsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Giacomo Puccini, and Johannes Brahms. Her dramatic soprano voice conveyed deep emotional intensity, resonating strongly with the audience and earning widespread appreciation.
A special highlight of the evening was the performance by young pianist Tylla Shirova, who demonstrated remarkable talent and confidence. She performed “The Voice of the Dutar” by Nury Halmamedov, alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s 8th Sonata and a Nocturne by Frederic Chopin. Her expressive and technically sound performance stood out as a testament to the promising future of young musicians in the region.
The concert also showcased the exceptional skills of concertmasters trained under senior teacher Stella Faramazova, whose guidance has contributed significantly to the high standard of musical education at the conservatory. Their accompaniment added depth and harmony to each performance, ensuring a seamless musical experience.
Overall, the chamber concert not only celebrated classical music but also highlighted the blend of experience and emerging talent within Turkmenistan’s music community. The event served as a reminder of the enduring power of music to connect cultures, evoke emotions, and inspire future generations.
