Turkmenistan has taken another step toward modernising its legal framework, as lawmakers approved several key bills during a recent parliamentary session. The reforms are part of ongoing efforts to align national laws with current social, economic, and international standards.
The developments were highlighted by Dunyagozel Gulmanova, who briefed the government on the outcomes of the latest session of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The meeting focused on strengthening legislative systems and improving governance.
According to officials, the adopted amendments cover a wide range of sectors, including the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms, financial reporting systems, and licensing regulations for various industries. These measures aim to enhance transparency and accountability.
Additional reforms address environmental concerns, particularly the management and conservation of aquatic biological resources. Lawmakers also approved updates related to safety in hazardous industries and the development of road infrastructure.
Migration policies were another key focus, with changes designed to bring regulations in line with international standards. These updates are expected to improve administrative efficiency and strengthen regulatory oversight.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedow emphasized the importance of adopting a systematic approach to lawmaking. He called for continued efforts to draft new laws that meet modern requirements while refining existing legislation.
The government has stated that these reforms are part of a broader strategy to support national development and ensure that the legal system keeps pace with evolving global and domestic challenges.
