Turkmenistan is expected to experience a combination of intense heat and localized rainfall during the final week of May as weather conditions shift across different parts of the country. According to forecasts issued by the national Hydrometeorological Service, several regions may witness temperatures climbing as high as 40 degrees Celsius while also receiving occasional short-term rain showers.
In the capital city of Ashgabat, weather conditions are expected to remain partly cloudy throughout the week. Meteorologists predict daytime temperatures will gradually rise from around 28°C to nearly 40°C by the end of the month. Night temperatures in the city are expected to remain comparatively moderate, ranging between 16°C and 24°C.
The Ahal velayat region is forecast to experience mostly clear skies along with rapidly increasing temperatures. Daytime conditions in some districts could approach 41°C, reflecting the arrival of stronger early summer heat across central parts of the country. Residents have been advised to remain cautious during peak afternoon hours due to the rising temperatures.
In the Balkan velayat, weather patterns are expected to alternate between cloudy intervals and sunny conditions. Temperatures in inland areas may reach between 35°C and 40°C, while coastal regions near the Caspian Sea are likely to remain relatively cooler, with maximum temperatures ranging between 26°C and 31°C due to maritime influence.
The Mary velayat is also expected to see clear and dry weather conditions for most of the week. Forecasts indicate that temperatures in the region could rise from the upper twenties to nearly 40°C in some areas. Similar heat conditions are predicted for the Lebap velayat, where cloudy skies and increasing temperatures are expected to dominate weather conditions through the final days of May.
In the northern Dashoguz velayat, weather experts expect a mix of clouds and sunshine along with gradually rising temperatures. Daytime highs in the region could increase from around 24°C earlier in the week to nearly 39°C by the weekend. Overnight temperatures are expected to remain between 13°C and 24°C across different districts.
Meteorologists noted that while rainfall activity is expected to remain localized and short-lived, sudden weather changes could occur in some regions because of unstable atmospheric conditions. Authorities have advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak daytime hours, and remain updated through official weather bulletins.
The latest forecast highlights the typical transition toward hotter summer conditions across Central Asia while also reflecting temporary atmospheric instability that can bring scattered rainfall. Weather officials continue to monitor regional climate patterns closely as temperatures continue rising toward the summer season.
