US Revokes Visas of Six Foreigners Over Charlie Kirk Assassination

US Revokes Visas of Six Foreigners Over Charlie Kirk Assassination

Post by : Rameen Ariff

The United States government has revoked the visas of six foreign nationals after they allegedly posted celebratory or offensive comments on social media regarding the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The announcement came from the U.S. State Department on Tuesday, following the ongoing investigation into the murder of Kirk, who was shot and killed on a college campus in Utah last month.

According to the State Department, the individuals whose visas were canceled belong to South Africa, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and Paraguay. Officials stated that the comments made by these individuals online were “deeply offensive” and went against the values of the United States.

“The United States has no obligation to host foreigners who wish death upon Americans,” the department said in an official post on X. It further added that authorities are continuing to identify other visa holders who participated in or celebrated the killing during a university event in Utah last month.

The decision to revoke the visas coincided with a White House ceremony where U.S. President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom — the nation’s highest civilian honor — on what would have been his 32nd birthday.

According to the State Department’s report, one of the offenders, an Argentine national, accused Kirk of “spreading racist, xenophobic, and misogynistic rhetoric.” Another individual, reportedly from Germany, wrote, “When fascists die, democrats don’t complain,” a statement that drew wide condemnation online.

The department reiterated its earlier warning that the U.S. government would take strict action against any foreign national “praising, rationalizing, or making light” of the death of an American citizen, particularly in cases involving acts of violence or terrorism.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Trump administration has expanded its scrutiny of foreign visitors under tighter immigration controls. This includes enhanced social media monitoring, revocation of thousands of student visas, and shortened visa durations for certain categories.

Officials stressed that the latest action serves as a message that disrespectful or violent rhetoric against Americans — even on social media — will carry serious consequences for foreigners residing in or visiting the United States.
