The Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation of the UAE has confirmed the dates for the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup, which is set to unfold from May 2 to May 3 at Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai. This competitive event will showcase nine premier clubs and academies in team-based contests.
With a substantial prize pool exceeding AED1 million, awards will go to the top three performing clubs in each division. Preliminary matches are slated for Saturday, while the finals will conclude on Sunday.
The competition encompasses four divisions: adults, under-18, under-16, and under-14. Match formats may differ based on team participation levels, ranging from best-of-three to round-robin stages that lead into finals.
Regarded as a highlight of the UAE's sports calendar, the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup is recognized for its intense competition, drawing strong involvement from leading teams.
Last year's event saw a diverse range of winners: Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club claimed the under-14 title, Al Ain emerged victorious in under-16, Al Jazira dominated under-18, and Baniyas took home the adult championship—demonstrating the increasing talent and competitiveness among teams.
Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, the Federation's Secretary-General, emphasized the tournament's role in uniting elite teams, enhancing collaboration, and fostering athlete development at a national level.
Ribamar Santiago, Head Coach of Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club, remarked that team competitions demand strategic preparation across multiple matches rather than single bouts, and anticipates a tougher challenge this year due to enhanced club preparations.
