Several Lufthansa employees were injured after the nose landing gear of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner reportedly collapsed while the aircraft was positioned at a gate at Frankfurt Airport. The incident prompted an immediate emergency response and has drawn attention to ground safety procedures at one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs.
According to Lufthansa, the aircraft was preparing for operations when the unexpected equipment failure occurred. At the time of the incident, crew members and ground personnel were on board or working around the aircraft. No passengers had boarded the plane, preventing what could have become a much larger emergency.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured and secure the affected area. Medical teams provided treatment to staff members while airport authorities coordinated safety measures to prevent further risks around the aircraft.
Images and reports from the airport showed the Dreamliner resting abnormally after the apparent collapse of its nose gear. Aviation experts note that such incidents are relatively rare but can pose serious risks to personnel working near aircraft during ground operations.
Lufthansa confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the equipment failure. Technical specialists and aviation safety officials are expected to examine maintenance records, aircraft systems, and operational procedures as part of the inquiry.
The incident has also renewed discussions about aircraft ground handling safety and the importance of rigorous inspections before flight operations. Frankfurt Airport handles thousands of flights each week, making safety protocols critical for both airline employees and passengers.
