Prime Minister Le Minh Hung held an extensive discussion with delegates attending the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, focusing on labor productivity, worker welfare, housing, healthcare, and digital transformation. The event took place at the National Convention Center in Hanoi and brought together government leaders, trade union representatives, workers, and industry stakeholders.
The discussion was organized under the theme “Vietnam Trade Union Accompanies the Government in Improving Labor Productivity and Achieving Double-Digit Growth Targets.” During the session, delegates shared practical concerns affecting workers across various industries and proposed solutions aimed at strengthening Vietnam’s workforce and supporting national economic growth.
Trade union leaders emphasized that improving labor productivity remains a key national priority. Delegates highlighted the need for continuous skills development, lifelong learning opportunities, vocational training, and the adoption of advanced technologies to help workers adapt to rapid changes in the labor market and digital economy.
Several representatives raised concerns about wages and living standards, noting that many workers continue to face financial challenges despite Vietnam’s strong economic growth. Calls were made for improved wage policies, expanded welfare programs, affordable housing, childcare facilities, healthcare services, and stronger labor protections to help workers maintain stable livelihoods.
Housing emerged as one of the most pressing issues discussed during the meeting. Delegates proposed expanding social housing projects, increasing long-term rental options near industrial zones, and improving infrastructure around worker communities. They argued that secure and affordable housing is essential for maintaining a productive and stable workforce.
Worker health and workplace safety also received significant attention. Trade union representatives called for stronger occupational health programs, improved food safety standards, enhanced access to medical services, and greater support for mental health. Participants stressed that healthy workers are fundamental to sustainable productivity and economic development.
The discussions also highlighted the growing role of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in the workplace. Delegates encouraged wider digital skills training, greater investment in technology, and stronger cooperation between trade unions and technology companies. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting workers, improving labor conditions, and creating opportunities that contribute to Vietnam’s long-term development goals.
