Vietnam Gears Up for 2026 Graduation Exam

Vietnam Gears Up for 2026 Graduation Exam

Post by : Shakul

Vietnam is making extensive preparations for the 2026 High School Graduation Examination, one of the most significant academic events of the year. This year's examination comes with several new challenges, including the nationwide implementation of a two-tier local government model, a rising number of candidates in major cities, and growing concerns over the use of sophisticated technology for cheating. Authorities across the country are working to ensure the examination is conducted safely, fairly, and in full compliance with national regulations.

In the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, officials are focusing on adapting to administrative changes following the restructuring of local government systems. Nearly 8,000 students are expected to sit for the examination across 24 testing centers and 352 examination rooms. Given the province's mountainous terrain, long travel distances, and the possibility of heavy rainfall during the examination period, local authorities have developed special response plans to handle emergencies and ensure smooth operations throughout the examination process.

To address coordination challenges after the removal of district-level examination steering committees, Lao Cai has introduced inter-communal support teams. These teams are responsible for managing unexpected situations such as power outages, severe weather conditions, transportation disruptions, and other emergencies. Provincial leaders have emphasized that maintaining absolute security and preventing mistakes at every stage of the examination remain their highest priorities.

Meanwhile, Vietnam's two largest cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, are facing a different challenge due to the rapidly increasing number of candidates. Hanoi has registered more than 129,000 students for the examination, requiring the establishment of 222 examination centers and nearly 6,000 examination rooms. Approximately 20,000 teachers, administrators, and support staff have been mobilized to assist with the organization and supervision of the examination process.

The pressure is even greater in Ho Chi Minh City, where around 142,000 candidates are expected to participate, representing a significant increase compared to previous years. The city has prepared 156 examination centers and more than 3,800 examination rooms while deploying over 25,000 personnel to support examination activities. Education officials have spent months reviewing facilities, conducting trial runs, and strengthening operational readiness to accommodate the record number of students.

A major focus for authorities this year is preventing cheating through advanced technological devices. Education departments are working closely with law enforcement agencies to train examination supervisors in identifying hidden communication tools and other high-tech equipment that could be used to violate examination rules. Additional surveillance and security measures have been implemented at examination centers considered vulnerable to such risks.

In central Vietnam, the city of Hue has intensified efforts to secure every stage of the examination process. Authorities have reviewed examination paper printing facilities, surveillance systems, grading centers, and communication networks while also preparing backup plans for electricity, water supply, and internet connectivity. Across the country, local governments share a common objective: ensuring that the 2026 High School Graduation Examination is conducted smoothly, securely, and transparently, allowing students to complete this important milestone under the best possible conditions.
