Vietnam and Japan are strengthening their partnership in human resource development, focusing on improving the capacity of grassroots officials and enhancing governance standards. The move reflects a broader commitment to long-term institutional development and international cooperation in public administration.
During a high-level meeting at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra met with Honna Hitoshi, Chairman and CEO of Erex Group. The meeting focused on reviewing ongoing cooperation and exploring ways to further expand training initiatives between the two countries.
The Vietnamese leader expressed appreciation for the joint training program implemented by the Ministry of Interior and Erex Group since 2022. This initiative has played a crucial role in enhancing public management skills, particularly among young civil servants, grassroots-level officials, and female leaders, helping them adapt to modern governance requirements.
So far, nearly 300 Vietnamese officials have participated in training programs in Japan, gaining valuable international exposure and practical knowledge. The impact of the program has been significant, with many participants effectively applying their skills at the local level. Notably, around 60 percent of young officials who underwent training have been promoted to higher positions, demonstrating the success and relevance of the initiative.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra emphasized that developing a skilled and capable workforce is a top priority for the Vietnamese government. She highlighted that international cooperation programs such as this not only improve administrative efficiency but also contribute to building a modern and responsive governance system that meets the demands of a rapidly evolving global environment.
On his part, Honna Hitoshi acknowledged Vietnam’s recent efforts in strengthening its leadership and governance framework for the 2026–2031 period. He reaffirmed Erex Group’s commitment to continuing and expanding its cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in the field of human resource development, which he described as a key pillar for sustainable growth.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about the future of Vietnam-Japan cooperation. There was a shared understanding that continued collaboration in training and capacity building would play a vital role in supporting Vietnam’s socio-economic development and strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
