Vietnam Highlights Key Reforms and Growth Policies Week

Vietnam Highlights Key Reforms and Growth Policies Week

Post by : Shakul

The Vietnamese government has outlined a series of major policy initiatives and administrative reforms during the week of May 30 to June 5, 2026, aimed at accelerating economic growth, strengthening public services, expanding digital transformation, and improving social welfare. The directives reflect the government's broader strategy to support sustainable development and achieve ambitious national targets over the coming decade.

One of the most significant priorities announced during the week was the development of the domestic market as a key pillar of economic growth. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc emphasized that strengthening domestic consumption and business activity is essential for achieving Vietnam’s double-digit growth ambitions between 2026 and 2030. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has been tasked with preparing a long-term domestic market development strategy that focuses on innovation, competitiveness, and support for businesses and consumers.

The government also approved a major project designed to help Vietnamese digital technology companies expand internationally. Under the new plan, Vietnam aims to have at least 5,000 digital technology enterprises generating revenue from overseas markets by 2030. Authorities expect exports of digital products and services to reach at least 55 billion US dollars annually while encouraging strategic partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions that will strengthen Vietnam’s position in global technology value chains.

Administrative reforms were another major focus. New regulations were introduced to define the functions, responsibilities, and organizational structure of the Government Office while also updating the structure of the State Bank of Vietnam. Officials said the changes are intended to improve governance efficiency, strengthen policy coordination, and enhance the government's ability to respond to emerging economic and social challenges.

The government further announced plans to elevate four major higher education institutions to the level of leading universities in Asia. At the same time, a new School Health Program for 2026–2035 was approved to improve healthcare services in educational institutions and ensure the physical and mental well-being of students. These measures are expected to strengthen human resource development and support Vietnam’s long-term competitiveness.

Healthcare workers also received attention through a new decree introducing special allowances for medical personnel, village health workers, and midwives. Additional policies were adopted to support personnel working in emergency situations, including hazard allowances for those involved in disaster response, epidemic control, and other high-risk assignments. These measures aim to recognize the contributions of frontline workers and improve workforce resilience.

In the social welfare sector, the government approved nearly 476 billion Vietnamese dong in gifts and support for war veterans, martyrs, and individuals who rendered services to the nation. The initiative will benefit more than 1.56 million eligible citizens ahead of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day. Officials said the support reflects Vietnam’s continued commitment to honoring those who contributed to the country's independence and development while ensuring stronger social protection for vulnerable groups.
