A formal handover ceremony of presidential duties took place at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, marking the transition between To Lam and former President Luong Cuong.
The ceremony was attended by senior leaders, including members of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Committee, reflecting the importance of the leadership transition within Vietnam’s political system.
During the event, the Office of the President presented a summary of achievements under Luong Cuong’s tenure. Both leaders officially signed the handover documents, completing the transfer of responsibilities.
Former President Luong Cuong expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and reflected on his decades of service. He emphasized his commitment to fulfilling duties with dedication and thanked the Party, State, and people for their continued support.
Taking over the role, To Lam expressed honor at being elected President and reaffirmed his oath of loyalty to the Constitution, the nation, and its citizens. He emphasized his responsibility to continue the legacy built by previous leaders.
He also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, highlighting Luong Cuong’s role in strengthening governance, legal frameworks, and both domestic and foreign affairs during his tenure.
Looking ahead, To Lam stressed the importance of maintaining political stability, promoting economic development, enhancing national defense, and improving citizens’ quality of life as Vietnam enters a new phase of development.
He further called for unity across institutions and society, emphasizing that the country’s greatest strength lies in the creativity and resilience of its people, and pledged to work collectively toward national progress.
