The Government of Vietnam has issued new directives to strengthen transportation services and ensure traffic safety during the upcoming Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the April 30–May 1 holiday period in 2026.
The official dispatch, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, highlights the expected surge in travel demand, which could place heavy pressure on transport systems and increase the risk of traffic congestion and accidents.
Authorities have been instructed to enhance transportation capacity across all modes, including road, rail, air, and waterways, to ensure that people can travel safely and conveniently during the peak holiday period.
The government has also emphasized strict enforcement of traffic laws, directing police forces to intensify patrols and take firm action against violations that commonly lead to accidents, such as speeding, illegal racing, and unsafe driving practices.
In addition, ministries and local authorities have been asked to closely monitor transport fares and prevent unjustified price increases, especially in response to fluctuations in fuel prices, ensuring fairness and transparency for passengers.
Efforts will also focus on improving coordination between transport agencies and local administrations to manage traffic flow effectively, reduce congestion, and ensure smooth connectivity to key transport hubs such as airports, railway stations, and bus terminals.
The Ministry of Health has been directed to ensure readiness of emergency services, including medical personnel and equipment, to respond quickly to any incidents and minimize casualties during the holiday period.
Furthermore, authorities have been tasked with strengthening public awareness campaigns on traffic safety, encouraging responsible behavior among drivers and passengers, and providing timely updates on traffic conditions and potential risks.
Hotline numbers will be made available to the public to report issues, while agencies will maintain round-the-clock operations to monitor and manage transportation activities throughout the holiday season.
