A delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the UAE field hospital situated in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, to evaluate the medical support and humanitarian efforts extended to Palestinians during the current crisis.
The team comprised Luca Pigozzi, Acting Head of WHO's Sub-Office in Gaza, Roy Cosico, Technical Officer for Emergency Medical Teams at WHO, and Heba Al Najjar, WHO Emergency Medical Teams Coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territories.
Upon arrival, they were received by Ali Al Shehhi, Head of the UAE Mission in Gaza as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 and Director of the UAE field hospital. Ali briefed them on the various healthcare services and treatment initiatives being pursued to bolster Gaza's medical infrastructure.
He emphasized the hospital's efforts in providing medical care to injured individuals and facilitating medical supplies to local hospitals under the mission. This effort is a segment of the UAE's broader humanitarian strategy to assist Palestinians affected by ongoing conflict.
The delegation toured the hospital's different departments, where they inspected treatment areas, surgical facilities, and specialized care services. They observed the dedicated UAE medical teams engaged in delivering essential health services and emergency aid to the afflicted communities.
WHO representatives expressed their appreciation for the UAE's humanitarian contributions and highlighted the critical role of the field hospital in providing vital medical care to the populace of Gaza. They recognized the commitment of the medical staff and the high-quality services rendered under difficult circumstances.
Ali Al Shehhi reiterated the UAE's dedication to enhancing Gaza's healthcare capabilities and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches vulnerable individuals. He emphasized the UAE's ongoing mission to alleviate the suffering faced by Palestinian people through medical and relief efforts.
Since its inception, the UAE field hospital in Rafah, along with the Emirates Medical Centre for Primary Care in Al Mawasi, Khan Younis, has successfully provided medical assistance to approximately 97,000 patients from throughout the Gaza Strip, showing the UAE’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian healthcare during this crisis.
