Afghanistan Conducts Airstrikes Inside Pakistan Border Areas

Afghanistan Conducts Airstrikes Inside Pakistan Border Areas

Post by : Shakul

Afghanistan has claimed responsibility for a series of airstrikes inside Pakistani territory, marking a significant escalation in tensions between the two neighboring countries. The Taliban-led Ministry of Defence said the operation targeted facilities allegedly linked to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K).

According to Afghan officials, the overnight strikes were carried out in parts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Kabul stated that the targeted locations had been used to organize and coordinate attacks against Afghanistan and posed a direct threat to national security.

The Afghan government described the military action as a precise and defensive response to ongoing security threats. Officials said all designated targets were successfully hit and warned that Afghanistan would continue taking necessary measures to protect its territory from militant activities.

The latest operation comes days after reports of Pakistani airstrikes inside Afghanistan. Afghan authorities previously accused Pakistan of targeting civilian areas, claiming that women and children were among the victims. Islamabad has denied those allegations and maintains that its actions are aimed at militant groups responsible for attacks inside Pakistan.

Relations between the two countries have continued to deteriorate over disputes related to border security and militant activity along the Durand Line. Pakistan has repeatedly accused Afghanistan of allowing anti-Pakistan groups, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), to operate from Afghan soil. The Taliban administration has consistently rejected these accusations.

Diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions have shown little progress in recent months. Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif recently stated that talks with the Taliban government had effectively failed, raising concerns about the future of bilateral relations and regional stability.

Analysts warn that the increasing frequency of cross-border military actions could push the relationship into a more dangerous phase. With trade routes disrupted and security concerns growing on both sides, fears of further retaliation and instability remain high across the region.
