Anutin Charnvirakul reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to gender equality and diversity by supporting the country’s campaign to host the prestigious WorldPride 2030. During a Pride Month event held at Government House on June 2, 2026, the Prime Minister received a “Road to Bangkok WorldPride 2030” pin from representatives of the Pride City Network.
The symbolic gesture highlighted Thailand’s growing efforts to promote equal rights and social inclusion for people of all gender identities. The event also served as a platform to strengthen public awareness about diversity and the importance of building a society that respects and values every individual regardless of gender.
According to government officials, the initiative forms part of a broader national strategy led by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and its partner organizations. The campaign aims to encourage provincial and city administrations to adopt policies that support gender equality and create more inclusive communities across the country.
A significant step forward was taken on May 28, 2026, when participating agencies signed a memorandum of understanding to establish pilot provinces and cities dedicated to advancing gender equality. The agreement received strong support from 57 provinces and one city, demonstrating widespread commitment to inclusive social development.
Government representatives stated that the response from local administrations reflects a shared determination to turn equality policies into practical action. The participating provinces are expected to implement programs that promote equal opportunities, reduce discrimination, and encourage greater acceptance of gender diversity.
Throughout June, Pride Month activities are being organized by public agencies, civil society groups, and private-sector partners across Thailand. These events are designed to celebrate diversity, raise awareness about LGBTQ+ rights, and foster stronger cooperation among communities nationwide.
Thailand’s campaign to host WorldPride 2030 is viewed as an opportunity to showcase the country’s commitment to equality, human rights, and cultural openness on the global stage. Supporters believe that successful hosting of the event would not only boost international recognition but also reinforce long-term progress toward a more inclusive and equitable society.
