Malaysian police have secured a four-day remand order for five individuals, including a 19-year-old girl believed to be the mother of a baby whose skeletal remains were discovered buried in Kelemak.
The suspects include the teenager, her boyfriend, and four family members — her mother, elder sister, and younger brother — aged between 16 and 40. The remand was granted by the Sessions Court to assist ongoing investigations into the case.
Authorities said the remains, believed to be that of a newborn baby, were found buried in the compound of an unoccupied house located opposite the family’s residence on March 25. Initial investigations suggest the burial may have taken place about four months ago.
The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code, which relates to the concealment of birth by secretly disposing of a dead body. Police are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, including the cause of death and involvement of each suspect.
The discovery has shocked the local community, especially as it occurred during the Hari Raya festive period, raising concerns over hidden crimes and family-related incidents.
Investigations are ongoing, with authorities expected to gather forensic evidence and statements from those involved to establish the full sequence of events.
