A Singapore-flagged container ship was reportedly attacked while sailing through the Strait of Hormuz near the coast of Oman, raising fresh concerns over maritime security in one of the world's busiest shipping routes. The incident comes as regional tensions continue to affect commercial shipping across the Gulf.
British maritime authorities said the vessel reported being struck by a projectile while transiting close to Oman's Port of Dahit.
Ship Suffers Damage But No Casualties
The vessel, identified as Ever Lovely, suffered damage to its bridge after the impact. According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), there were no injuries among the crew and no environmental pollution was reported.
Initial investigations indicate the ship remained operational after the attack, while authorities continue assessing the extent of the damage.
Drone Attack Suspected
Maritime security officials believe the vessel may have been targeted by a drone, although the identity of those responsible has not yet been confirmed. British maritime security company Ambrey classified the incident as an attack based on its preliminary assessment.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards stated that ships should use routes designated by Iranian authorities for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, adding to growing concerns among international shipping companies.
Oil Prices Rise After Fresh Security Incident
Global oil prices increased by around one percent following reports of the attack as investors reacted to renewed concerns over the safety of energy shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Analysts warned that any prolonged disruption in the region could affect global oil supplies, shipping costs and international trade.
Authorities Advise Ships to Exercise Caution
UKMTO has advised all commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to remain vigilant and follow updated security guidance while investigations continue.
The owner of the Singapore-flagged ship has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. Maritime security agencies continue monitoring the area amid fears of further attacks.
