The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)-led protest entered its third day at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, drawing hundreds of students, job seekers, and young professionals. Demonstrators are demanding accountability over the recent NEET-UG examination controversy and seeking broader reforms in India’s education system.
NEET Controversy Remains the Core Issue
The protests were sparked by allegations of a paper leak in the NEET-UG medical entrance examination. Following public outrage, authorities canceled the results and conducted a fresh examination under tighter security measures. While officials reported that the re-test was completed smoothly, protesters argue that deeper issues within the examination system remain unresolved.
Cockroach Janata Party Gains Momentum
The movement is being led by the Cockroach Janata Party, a satirical political collective that has gained massive popularity on social media. Founder Abhijeet Dipke addressed supporters, stating that the campaign is now focused on accountability, transparency, and long-term education reforms rather than just one examination controversy.
Demonstrators Refuse to End Sit-In
Although the official permission for the protest expired, participants chose to continue their sit-in. Many protesters spent nights at the venue, while volunteers arranged food, water, and other essentials. Discussions on youth employment, education policy, and public accountability have become a regular part of the gathering.

Support Extends Beyond Students
The protest has attracted support from people outside the student community, including lawyers, professionals, and social activists. Many participants say they are concerned about the future of India's education system and believe stronger accountability is needed to restore public confidence.
Social Media Drives National Attention
The Cockroach Janata Party emerged after controversial remarks about unemployed youth sparked online debate. Supporters adopted the "cockroach" symbol as a representation of resilience and determination. The movement quickly expanded online, attracting millions of followers and bringing national attention to issues affecting young Indians.
Focus Shifts Toward Education Reform
As the demonstration continues, organizers say their demands extend beyond the NEET controversy. They are calling for transparent examinations, improved governance, and meaningful reforms that address the concerns of students across the country. Government officials have yet to formally respond to the demand for the Education Minister’s resignation.
