Dubai Airport Set for Historic Holiday Travel Surge with Over 10 Million Flyers

Dubai Airport Set for Historic Holiday Travel Surge with Over 10 Million Flyers

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is gearing up for what is projected to be one of the most significant year-end travel periods, with forecasts indicating over 10 million passengers from 27 November to 31 December 2025. The rush is expected to kick off with the UAE National Day long weekend, where daily passenger numbers might average over 294,000.

Reflecting on past trends, December appears set to become the busiest month on record for DXB, with more than 8.7 million travellers anticipated. The airport expects daily traffic to surpass 300,000 passengers, peaking on 20 December with roughly 303,000 travellers.

The travel flow is expected to follow historical patterns. The outbound travel surge will dominate prior to the National Day break as many residents opt for short getaways. However, by mid-December, the influx of visitors to Dubai will increase, fueled by the city’s vibrant festive calendar and international attractions.

In preparation for the surge, Dubai Airports is collaborating closely with oneDXB partners, including airlines, regulatory bodies, and airport teams, to facilitate smoother passenger experiences during this busy period.

DXB has provided several helpful tips for travellers to ensure an effortless journey:

  • Passengers flying with Emirates are encouraged to utilize home check-in, early check-in, self-service kiosks, and the city check-in option at ICD Brookfield Place in DIFC.

  • Travellers should plan to arrive no more than three hours early before their flight and take advantage of online check-in whenever feasible.

  • Families with children aged 12 and above can leverage Smart Gates to expedite passport control.

  • First and Business Class passengers departing from Terminal 3 can utilize the “Red Carpet” Smart Tunnel for a streamlined, document-free passport check.

  • It is advisable for travellers to stay informed about destination travel guidelines and prepare necessary documents in advance.

  • Travelers should pack spare batteries and power banks in their hand luggage.

  • During peak hours, only departing passengers will be permitted inside the terminals, so goodbyes should be conducted before entering.

  • The Dubai Metro is an efficient option for reaching Terminals 1 and 3, with extended service hours during the holiday season.

  • Special services for People of Determination will be available, ensuring easy access routes, Sunflower Lanyard assistance, and a dedicated lounge in Terminal 2.

  • Passengers can check for flight and gate updates using DXB Express Maps, accessible via QR code.

  • Inside the airport, travellers can enjoy a variety of dining, shopping, and lounge options while awaiting their flights.

With all preparations in place and record-breaking passenger numbers on the horizon, DXB is ready for a bustling yet well-organized holiday season as millions embark on their travel adventures.
