Family demands probe in Inisa BK death

Family demands probe in Inisa BK death

Post by : Shakul

The family of teenage victim Inisa BK has refused to claim her body, demanding an impartial investigation into her death, which has triggered widespread protests across Nepal.

The 16-year-old student was found critically injured in a community forest in Birendranagar on March 7 and later declared dead at a provincial hospital. A preliminary post-mortem report confirmed that she died due to severe internal and external bleeding caused by violent sexual assault, intensifying public outrage.

Her family has accused authorities of failing to ensure justice and transparency, insisting that they will not accept the body until a fair and thorough investigation is guaranteed. The case has drawn national attention, with protests erupting in multiple cities demanding strict action against those responsible.

Police have detained several suspects, including minors, as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have also deployed specialized teams, including Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau, to examine forensic evidence and verify statements.

The incident has sparked widespread demonstrations across the country, with students and rights activists taking to the streets demanding justice and stronger protections for women. Protesters have raised concerns about safety in public areas and called for stricter laws to prevent such crimes.

Inisa BK, a Grade 11 student, had left home for tuition on the day of the incident but never returned. Her death has become a symbol of growing public anger over gender-based violence and delays in justice delivery.

As pressure mounts, the case continues to highlight systemic challenges in addressing crimes against women in Nepal, with calls for accountability, institutional reform, and swift legal action growing louder across the nation.
