Iran FM Slams Israel After Deadly Lebanon Strikes

Iran FM Slams Israel After Deadly Lebanon Strikes

Post by : Shakul

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has sharply criticized Israel following a deadly escalation in southern Lebanon that left dozens of people dead and injured. His comments came after Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir made controversial remarks regarding military operations in Lebanon.

Araghchi accused Israel of pursuing a strategy of continuous conflict in the region. In a strongly worded statement, he claimed that Israeli leaders were promoting policies that risk further instability across the Middle East and undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Deadly Violence Rocks Southern Lebanon

The criticism followed a series of Israeli airstrikes and military operations in Lebanon that reportedly killed at least 47 people and wounded nearly 100 others. Lebanese health authorities said the attacks caused significant damage in several areas, while emergency teams continued rescue and relief operations.

The latest fighting triggered fresh concerns about civilian safety and the possibility of a broader regional conflict. The violence also threatened to derail ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region.

US-Iran Talks Delayed Amid Rising Tensions

The escalation in Lebanon also affected planned discussions between the United States and Iran. Officials confirmed that talks scheduled in Switzerland were postponed as mediators focused on preventing further deterioration of the security situation.

The delay raised concerns about the future of negotiations related to regional stability, sanctions, and broader diplomatic agreements. Both Washington and Tehran have expressed interest in continuing discussions, but the latest violence has complicated those efforts.

Trump Calls for Restraint

US President Donald Trump recently urged all sides to avoid further escalation and called for a complete ceasefire across conflict zones in the region. Trump criticized the impact of military actions in Lebanon and stressed the need for diplomatic solutions.

His administration continues to support negotiations with Iran while also maintaining close ties with Israel. However, recent comments from US officials suggest growing concern about actions that could jeopardize ongoing peace efforts.

Ceasefire Renewed Between Israel and Hezbollah

Despite the violence, officials later confirmed that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to renew a ceasefire arrangement. The move is seen as an attempt to prevent the conflict from expanding further and to create space for diplomatic engagement.

Regional observers say the coming days will be critical in determining whether the ceasefire holds and whether stalled diplomatic talks can resume successfully amid continued tensions.

Uncertain Road Ahead

The renewed fighting has highlighted the fragile security situation across the Middle East. While diplomatic channels remain open, sharp rhetoric and military actions continue to create uncertainty about the prospects for long-term stability.

Analysts warn that without sustained dialogue and restraint from all sides, the risk of further escalation remains high, potentially affecting security, trade, and diplomatic relations across the region.
