A major criminal case has emerged in Kuala Lumpur, where six individuals, including a senior police officer, have been charged in connection with a series of armed gang robberies causing losses worth RM4.4 million.
The accused include Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Ruzaini Ahmad Dahalan and five other men, all of whom pleaded not guilty to the charges brought before multiple Sessions Courts.
According to prosecutors, the group is alleged to have carried out coordinated robberies in residential areas around Kepong, where victims were threatened with firearms, creating fear and panic.
Authorities stated that the police officer, who was previously attached to the Commercial Crime Investigation Department, has been suspended since January and is believed to have played a key role in the crimes.
The charges include armed robbery under strict firearms laws, which carry severe penalties, including long-term imprisonment and corporal punishment upon conviction.
Investigations revealed that the gang allegedly stole luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, a Bentley, and a Toyota Alphard, along with cash, foreign currency, jewelry, and gold bars.
The offences were reportedly committed in the early hours of April 5 in a residential area of Desa ParkCity, highlighting concerns over security in high-end neighborhoods.
Due to the seriousness of the charges, no bail was granted, and the court has scheduled the next hearing for May 25 as investigations continue.
The case has drawn significant public attention, particularly due to the involvement of a serving police officer, raising questions about integrity and oversight within law enforcement agencies.
