NASA has successfully completed a key technical rehearsal for the Artemis 2 mission, which will send astronauts around the Moon. The rehearsal, known as a wet dress rehearsal, was conducted on February 19, 2026, after earlier technical problems had interrupted a previous attempt in early February.
The wet dress rehearsal is an important technology test where the Space Launch System rocket is fully fueled and all launch systems are checked under real conditions. During this test at Cape Canaveral, Florida, engineers safely carried the countdown up to “T-29 seconds,” confirming that major systems worked as planned.
An earlier rehearsal had to be stopped due to a liquid hydrogen leak, highlighting the technical challenges involved in deep-space missions. That issue delayed the launch timeline and pushed the earliest possible launch window to March 6, 2026.
Artemis 2 is a major milestone in space technology, as it will be the first crewed mission to fly past the Moon in more than 50 years. The mission will carry three American astronauts and one Canadian astronaut, marking a significant step toward future lunar landings.
