A major railway accident occurred in Bangladesh when eight coaches of the Nilsagar Express derailed near Santahar Station in Bogura district, leaving several passengers injured.
The incident took place in the Bagbaria area of Adamdighi upazila at around 2:00 PM, according to railway officials. Emergency response teams, including police and fire service personnel, quickly reached the site and began rescue operations.
Initial reports indicate that at least eight injured passengers were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals, where most were reported to have sustained minor injuries. Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage and the total number of affected passengers.
Following the derailment, train services between Dhaka and northern regions were temporarily suspended, causing significant disruption to rail connectivity. Officials have stated that restoration work is underway, and services will resume once the tracks are cleared and deemed safe.
The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed, and an investigation is expected to determine whether technical faults or track issues were responsible.
