Pakistan Minister's Relative Held in Gangrape Case

Pakistan Minister's Relative Held in Gangrape Case

Post by : Shakul

Police in Pakistan have arrested four suspects, including a relative of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in connection with the alleged kidnapping and gangrape of two foreign women in Lahore. The case has attracted widespread attention because of the alleged involvement of a person linked to a senior government leader.

According to police, the suspects have been identified as Muhammad Raza Dar, Hassan Raza, Sikandar Khan and Sajid Ali. A Lahore court has placed all four accused on five-day police remand while investigators continue collecting evidence and questioning those involved. Authorities said another suspect remains absconding and search operations are underway to locate him.

Victims Allegedly Invited to Pakistan for Business

Investigators said the two women, one from the Netherlands and the other from Venezuela, reportedly met Muhammad Raza Dar in Singapore during 2025 while discussing a cryptocurrency-related business venture. Police said the women later travelled to Pakistan on business visas after allegedly being invited by the prime suspect.

According to the complaint filed with police, the women alleged that after arriving in Lahore on June 29, they were taken to a house against their will, where they were allegedly sexually assaulted and ransom was demanded before they could be released.

Why were the suspects arrested in Lahore?

The suspects were arrested after police registered a case involving allegations of kidnapping, gangrape and ransom made by two foreign women. Following preliminary investigations, authorities detained four suspects while continuing efforts to arrest another individual who remains at large.

How were the victims rescued?

Police said they launched an operation after receiving an emergency call from Spain made by the father of one of the alleged victims. The information enabled investigators to locate and rescue the women before arresting several suspects connected to the case.

Court Grants Police Remand

During the court proceedings, the alleged victims reportedly identified Muhammad Raza Dar as the primary suspect before the magistrate. Based on the police request, the court granted five days of physical remand to allow investigators additional time for questioning and evidence collection.

Meanwhile, police teams continue conducting raids to locate the fifth suspect who remains absconding. Officials said further arrests could follow depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

Case Remains Under Investigation

Police have emphasised that the allegations are currently under investigation and that the judicial process is continuing. Authorities are expected to submit further findings before the court after completing questioning, forensic examinations and the search for the remaining suspect.
