A dangerous wedding trend in Pakistan has triggered fresh safety concerns after a viral incident showed how throwing cash during celebrations can quickly turn into chaos and injury.
According to widely circulated visuals and reports, guests at a wedding event tossed currency notes onto a public road — a practice sometimes used to display wealth or celebrate joy. However, the situation spiraled out of control when a large crowd rushed onto the street to collect the money.
Amid the sudden rush and lack of traffic control, a passing rickshaw collided with people gathered on the road, leading to injuries and panic. Eyewitness clips show people scrambling, vehicles unable to stop in time, and complete disorder at the scene.
Such incidents highlight the dangers of unregulated public celebrations, especially when they spill onto active roads. Experts and authorities have repeatedly warned that blocking roads, encouraging crowd surges, or engaging in risky displays can lead to accidents, stampedes, and even fatalities.
In recent years, similar unsafe practices at weddings and public gatherings across South Asia have drawn criticism, with calls for stricter enforcement and greater public awareness. Authorities often advise that celebrations should remain within controlled environments to avoid endangering lives.
The incident has sparked debate online, with many users urging people to rethink such traditions and prioritize safety over showmanship.
