Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — Saudi authorities are preparing for several days of dust storms, strong winds, and unstable weather conditions across many regions of the Kingdom, with warnings in place through Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued Red and Orange weather alerts, indicating severe and hazardous conditions that include reduced visibility, dust‑laden winds, and difficult travel circumstances. These alerts cover central and northern areas, as well as parts of the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Tabuk, Madinah, Makkah, and Najran regions.
Dust storms and strong winds are expected to affect outdoor activities, road travel, and air quality, particularly during daylight hours. Officials have advised residents to stay indoors when possible and limit unnecessary travel, especially where visibility is poor.
In addition to the dust, some coastal and desert areas could see higher wave activity and turbulent conditions due to strong surface winds. The NCM continues to monitor the weather system closely as it moves across the country.
While dust storms are not uncommon in the Arabian Peninsula’s desert climate, the prolonged duration and intensity of this event have led to heightened warnings and preparedness measures by authorities.
