TH Says Haj Queue Not Based on Payment

TH Says Haj Queue Not Based on Payment

Post by : Shakul

Lembaga Tabung Haji has clarified that the selection process for Malaysian Haj pilgrims is strictly based on the official queue system and quota allocation, and not influenced by higher package payments or financial status. The statement was made following growing public misunderstanding that expensive Haj packages could speed up approval or improve the chances of securing a place for the pilgrimage.

Speaking in Mecca, licensed Haj operators operations director Anwar Ahmad explained that every applicant must go through the same system established by Tabung Haji. He stressed that all prospective pilgrims, including those applying through private licensed Haj operators, are subject to identical rules and procedures determined by the organisation.

Anwar Ahmad said there is a common misconception among some members of the public that selecting premium Haj packages or paying more money can move a person higher in the waiting queue. He strongly denied these claims and clarified that Haj appeals and approvals are processed only according to the official queue position and the quota allocated to Malaysia by Saudi Arabian authorities.

According to him, the payment made for premium packages only covers additional services offered after a pilgrim has already received approval to perform Haj. These services may include better accommodation, transport arrangements, food packages, or other facilities, but they do not affect the approval process itself. He emphasised that the system is designed to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all Malaysian Muslims waiting to perform Haj.

Anwar Ahmad said the current approach is necessary because the demand for Haj among Malaysians remains extremely high every year while the quota provided to Malaysia is limited. Due to this situation, many people remain on the waiting list for years before receiving approval. Tabung Haji therefore uses a structured queue system to manage applications in a transparent and organised manner.

Officials also warned that irresponsible individuals and syndicates have been spreading misleading information regarding guaranteed Haj approvals. According to Anwar Ahmad, some groups have been using social media platforms and promotional advertisements to attract prospective pilgrims by claiming they can secure faster approval through certain expensive packages or special access arrangements.

He explained that these tactics often include promises of exclusive opportunities and direct approval channels that do not actually exist. Authorities warned that such claims are false and are sometimes linked to fraudulent activities targeting people eager to perform Haj. Tabung Haji reminded the public that no private operator or individual has the power to bypass or manipulate the official Haj selection process.

Anwar Ahmad advised prospective pilgrims to verify all information only through official Tabung Haji communication channels. These include the organisation’s website, customer service call centre, and official branch offices across Malaysia. He also encouraged people to deal only with licensed Haj operators in order to avoid scams or financial losses caused by fake pilgrimage offers.

Meanwhile, Tabung Haji stated that it will continue strengthening its monitoring of licensed Haj operators to ensure all services provided meet official standards and protect the welfare of Malaysian pilgrims throughout their stay in the Holy Land. Authorities said maintaining transparency and fairness remains one of the organisation’s top priorities as it continues managing the large number of Haj applications received each year.
