The Royal Thai Army's Volunteer Center under the 37th Military District has deployed personnel to assist in strengthening flood protection measures in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province. The operation aims to reduce the risk of river overflow before the peak rainy season.
Flood Barrier Construction Accelerated
A total of 16 volunteer personnel from the 37th Military District and the 3rd Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment joined the 3rd Development Division in constructing temporary and semi-permanent flood barriers. The project is designed to protect both residential communities and important economic areas.
Work Carried Out Across Multiple Zones
Operations were divided into several work zones. In Zone A, workers covered Big Bag flood barriers with UV-resistant tarpaulins. Zone B focused on reinforcing barriers in the Koh Sai community by applying Portland cement mixed with a special water-reducing compound to strengthen the protective wall.

Additional Reinforcements Prepared
In Zone C, located behind the wastewater treatment plant in Tha Sai, volunteers filled sandbags that were later transported to reinforce flood barriers in the Koh Sai area. The coordinated effort was supported by local authorities and community volunteers.
Preparing Before Heavy Rainfall
Officials said the preventive project is intended to reduce flood risks before seasonal rainfall intensifies. Strengthening river embankments now is expected to improve the area's ability to withstand rising water levels during the monsoon.
Authorities Continue Disaster Readiness
The Royal Thai Army said disaster preparedness remains a priority and pledged continued cooperation with local agencies and residents to protect lives, homes and public infrastructure throughout the rainy season.
