Thailand is taking strong steps to improve consumer protection as the government announced a new plan focused on safeguarding citizens in the digital age. The initiative aims to strengthen trust among the public while ensuring that consumer rights are protected against modern challenges such as online fraud and misleading information.
The announcement was made during the “Thai Consumer Protection Day 2026” event held in Bangkok at the Government Complex. The event was led by Supamas Isarabhakdi, who emphasized the importance of adapting consumer protection systems to match the rapid growth of the digital economy.
Senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office also participated in the event, including representatives who are responsible for policy implementation and regulatory frameworks. Their presence reflected the government’s commitment to integrating different departments in order to achieve stronger and more effective consumer protection.
During the event, authorities highlighted three key mechanisms that will guide Thailand’s consumer protection efforts in the coming years. The first focus is on strengthening online consumer protection, especially in response to increasing cases of digital fraud and deceptive advertising practices that affect many users.
The second mechanism involves strict and fair law enforcement to ensure justice for consumers in their daily lives. Officials stressed that improving the legal system and making it more responsive will help build confidence among citizens and businesses alike.
The third focus area is raising public awareness about new forms of online threats. The government aims to educate people about digital risks and encourage cooperation between different sectors of society to create a safer environment for consumers.
As part of the event, officials also visited exhibition areas and service units to better understand how modern systems can improve complaint handling. The approach focuses on making services faster, more transparent, and centered around the needs of the people.
The government believes that these combined efforts will help elevate Thailand’s consumer protection standards to an international level. By improving systems, enforcing laws, and educating the public, authorities aim to create a more secure and trustworthy environment for all citizens.
This initiative reflects Thailand’s broader strategy to adapt to the digital era while ensuring that economic growth does not come at the cost of consumer safety. With continued efforts and cooperation, the country hopes to build a strong and reliable framework for protecting consumer rights in the future.
