Thailand's government has reported major progress in its nationwide campaign against cybercrime, fraudulent financial networks, and so-called mule accounts, highlighting significant reductions in online scam activities since the launch of intensified enforcement measures under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's administration.
According to information released by Prime Minister's Office spokesperson Rachada Thanadirek, authorities have strengthened cooperation among law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and digital security organizations to dismantle criminal networks that exploit banking systems and technology platforms for fraudulent activities.
Data from the Anti Cyber Scam Center of the Royal Thai Police showed that between October 2025 and May 2026, investigators identified 189,887 mule accounts linked to individuals and 10,672 accounts connected to corporate entities through the Central Fraud Registry database. Authorities also traced more than 1.14 million related financial transactions during the operation.
The results indicate a substantial decline in illegal financial activity. Individual mule accounts dropped by 76.9 percent, corporate mule accounts decreased by 88.4 percent, and suspicious transaction volumes fell by 66.1 percent. Officials said the success demonstrates the effectiveness of real-time information sharing between financial institutions and government agencies.
The government also reported significant improvements in tackling technology-related crimes. Cases involving cyber fraud and online scams fell from 34,478 to 16,920, representing a reduction of more than 50 percent. Financial losses linked to these crimes also declined sharply from 2.224 billion baht to 513 million baht, reducing overall damages by more than 63 percent.
Law enforcement agencies arrested 1,494 individuals connected to scam operations during the period. More than 57 million baht in cash was seized, while 808 victims were rescued from criminal networks. Authorities believe these actions have disrupted major organized groups involved in online fraud and transnational cybercrime.
Officials emphasized that the campaign will continue with full force. The Prime Minister has instructed all agencies to accelerate legal action against everyone involved in cybercrime operations, including account holders, account suppliers, recruitment networks, and criminal masterminds. The government stated that cybercrime poses not only financial risks but also threatens public confidence, national security, and economic stability, making continued enforcement a top national priority.
