A key meeting was held in Bangkok as the government moves to strengthen its legal framework against cybercrime. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society organized a subcommittee session to review domestic laws in line with international obligations.
The meeting was chaired by Chomparee Chompurat, who led discussions on aligning Thailand’s legal system with the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime. Representatives from multiple government agencies participated both in person and through video conferencing.
Officials focused on reviewing existing laws and identifying areas that need updates to meet global standards. The aim is to ensure that Thailand can effectively prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats while complying with international agreements.
The United Nations Convention against Cybercrime is designed to promote cooperation among countries in tackling digital crimes. By updating its laws, Thailand aims to improve cross-border collaboration and strengthen its cybersecurity systems.
Experts at the meeting emphasized the growing risks of cybercrime, including online fraud, data breaches, and digital attacks. They highlighted the need for strong legal tools to address these challenges and protect citizens and businesses.
The subcommittee will continue studying legal frameworks and propose recommendations for improvements. These proposals are expected to support national security and ensure better preparedness against future cyber threats.
The initiative reflects Thailand’s commitment to building a safer digital environment and keeping pace with global cybersecurity standards.
