Thailand is moving ahead with the drafting of its Digital Government Development Plan 2027-2032 with the goal of transforming public services into a more convenient, secure and accessible system for citizens, businesses and foreigners.
The first meeting of the Digital Government Development Committee for 2026 was held at Government House in Bangkok under the chairmanship of Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Paradorn Prisnanantakul. Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaiyanok Chidchob and representatives from several government agencies also attended the meeting.
Officials said the proposed plan will serve as a major framework for modernising Thailand’s public services in the digital era. The government wants to build a digital administration system that is easier to access and more reliable for people across the country.
The plan is built around five key strategies which include upgrading digital government services, linking government databases, developing digital infrastructure, promoting the use of artificial intelligence and improving the digital capabilities of government personnel.
One of the major highlights of the proposal is the creation of a “Single Portal” platform that will allow citizens to access multiple government services through one digital channel. The system will operate using a Digital ID platform and support services such as e-Signature, Document Wallet and a National Payment Platform.
Authorities believe the system will reduce paperwork, improve online transactions and make government services faster and more efficient. The government also plans to increase the use of AI technology in public service delivery, internal management and policy analysis to improve transparency and decision-making.
The meeting also focused on improving data sharing between government agencies through the Government Data Exchange Center under the Federated Data Exchange concept. Officials said the move would reduce the need for citizens to repeatedly submit copies of documents while increasing coordination between departments.
Thailand is also aiming to align its digital transformation efforts with the United Nations e-Government Development Index standards. Relevant agencies have been instructed to prepare detailed implementation plans before the next committee meeting.
