Thailand’s government has welcomed the results of a recent public opinion survey showing strong support for the proposed TH-AI Passport initiative, a program designed to expand access to artificial intelligence and strengthen the country’s digital economy. Officials said the findings demonstrate growing public confidence in the role of AI as a tool for economic and social development.
According to survey results released by the Super Poll Research Institute, awareness of artificial intelligence is already widespread across the country. More than 91 percent of respondents said they were familiar with AI, while over 72 percent reported using AI in their daily lives, education, professional work, or business activities. The figures highlight Thailand’s rapid transition toward a technology-driven and knowledge-based society.
The survey also found that 63.7 percent of respondents support the government's plan to move forward with the TH-AI Passport project, provided it operates transparently, remains accountable, and delivers measurable benefits to the public. Government officials described this support as an endorsement of efforts to use technology to improve living standards and create new opportunities for citizens.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwatana stated that the administration views artificial intelligence not simply as an emerging technology but as a strategic tool capable of increasing productivity, creating employment opportunities, reducing costs, and strengthening economic competitiveness. She emphasized that the government remains committed to implementing the project under principles of transparency and public accountability.
Public feedback also revealed strong expectations for AI-driven development. More than 91 percent of respondents want AI to help increase incomes and generate business opportunities, while nearly 89 percent believe it can strengthen Thailand’s economic competitiveness. Large majorities also support using AI to improve access to knowledge, modernize education, and develop workforce skills needed for the future economy.
The government plans to focus on five key priorities, including helping citizens increase earnings through AI applications, improving national competitiveness, reducing the digital divide, upgrading education and workforce capabilities, and using AI to improve public safety and support vulnerable groups such as children, elderly citizens, and people with disabilities.
Officials added that the TH-AI Passport project will be accompanied by broader measures including AI training programs, community learning centers, access to digital tools, and expert support services. The government believes these initiatives will help build an inclusive AI ecosystem where all citizens can benefit from technological progress and participate more effectively in the digital economy of the future.
