The government of Thailand has intensified its nationwide efforts to combat wildfires, establishing a centralized War Room to monitor and manage the situation effectively. Authorities have deployed personnel to key affected areas, including Kanchanaburi, to strengthen on-ground operations.
According to Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is enhancing wildfire management strategies, focusing both on controlling fires and ensuring the safety of personnel involved in operations.
A high-level team visited the wildfire command and monitoring center at the Salak Phra Wildlife Sanctuary in Kanchanaburi to assess the situation. Field units were instructed to accelerate firefighting efforts, contain fire spread in critical zones, and use aerial support for hard-to-reach forest areas.
The ministry has emphasized a strict “safety first” approach, requiring all agencies to ensure that personnel, equipment, and vehicles are fully prepared before deployment. Measures such as rotating teams in high-risk areas have been introduced to prevent fatigue and reduce injury risks.
Preventive actions have also been strengthened nationwide, with increased surveillance in protected forests and wildlife zones. Authorities are coordinating with local agencies and provincial leaders to enforce strict measures against illegal forest burning and reduce fire risks.
Meanwhile, two firefighters were injured while battling a blaze at Phu Pha Thoep National Park. The injuries were caused by extreme heat and exhaustion, and both individuals are currently receiving close medical care.
The government has reiterated its commitment to protecting both natural resources and frontline personnel. Authorities confirmed that high alert levels will remain in place throughout April to control wildfires and minimize their environmental and social impact.
