To Lam Visits Historic Vietnam-China Site

To Lam Visits Historic Vietnam-China Site

Post by : Shakul

To Lam visited the Central University Campus historical site in Nanning, Guangxi, China, as part of his ongoing state visit to the country. He was accompanied by his wife and a high-level Vietnamese delegation, while leaders from Guangxi University welcomed and guided the visit.

During the visit, he toured a photo exhibition that highlighted the history of the institution, also known as Nanning Yucai School. The site holds deep historical significance as a symbol of the close relationship between Vietnam and China, reflecting decades of cooperation and shared struggles.

Speaking at the venue, To Lam expressed his deep emotions, stating that the location represents the strong bond of “comrades and brothers” between the two nations. He noted that standing at the site brings back memories of the 1950s, when Vietnam was engaged in its struggle for national liberation and received crucial support from China.

He acknowledged the role of the Chinese Party, State, and people in supporting Vietnam during difficult times by providing resources to build schools, ensure the safety of students, and contribute to their education. He also highlighted the meaningful stories of teachers and students that have become part of the shared historical legacy between the two countries.

The Vietnamese leader reaffirmed that Vietnam always values and remembers China’s support in both past struggles and current development. He expressed appreciation to the authorities of Guangxi for preserving historical sites related to President Ho Chi Minh, noting that these places serve as important symbols of friendship.

He also recalled President Ho Chi Minh’s message to students during his visit to the school in 1957, emphasizing the importance of gratitude, dedication to learning, discipline, and responsibility towards the nation. These values, he said, remain relevant for future generations.

To Lam expressed hope that educational institutions in Guangxi would continue to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese universities and act as bridges for cultural and knowledge exchange. He added that such collaboration would help develop skilled individuals and further deepen bilateral relations.

The Central Campus was originally established in 1951 as a training center for Vietnamese cadres during the resistance period. Over time, it trained around 7,000 individuals, many of whom later became influential leaders, scientists, and cultural figures. The site continues to stand as a testament to the enduring friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China.
