Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation following high-level talks between senior officials in Ashgabat. The discussions took place during the ongoing Days of Culture of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan, an event designed to celebrate the shared heritage and longstanding friendship between the two neighboring nations.
Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli on June 5 to review the current state of bilateral cultural relations and explore new opportunities for cooperation. Both sides highlighted the important role of culture in bringing people closer together and reinforcing the traditionally strong ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, special attention was given to expanding collaboration among museums, libraries, cultural institutions, artistic groups, and educational organizations. Officials agreed that stronger interaction between these sectors would help preserve and promote the rich historical and cultural heritage of both nations while creating new opportunities for future generations.
The ministers also praised the significance of the Azerbaijan Culture Days being hosted in Turkmenistan. The multi-day event features film screenings, literary discussions, exhibitions, and cultural presentations showcasing Azerbaijan’s artistic achievements and traditions. A gala concert featuring prominent Azerbaijani performers is expected to serve as the centerpiece of the celebrations.
Both countries emphasized the importance of organizing more joint cultural projects, exhibitions, and exchange programs. Such initiatives are seen as effective tools for strengthening mutual understanding and fostering deeper people-to-people connections across various sectors of society.
Another key focus of the talks was enhancing cooperation between creative communities and cultural professionals. Officials noted that increased engagement among artists, writers, academics, and cultural experts could contribute significantly to the development of broader bilateral relations.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing confidence in the future of Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cultural diplomacy, supporting new collaborative initiatives, and maintaining a constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening friendship and partnership for the benefit of both nations.
