The Government of Vietnam has announced a comprehensive plan to organize activities marking the 80th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, reflecting the nation’s deep respect and gratitude towards those who sacrificed for national liberation and development. The directives were issued as part of the Government’s official announcements on April 17, 2026.
The plan, signed by Pham Thi Thanh Tra, aims to highlight the historical, political, and humanitarian significance of the day. Authorities intend to promote awareness among citizens, especially younger generations, about the sacrifices made by heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, and those who contributed to the revolution.
A central focus of the initiative is to improve the material and spiritual well-being of individuals and families who rendered service to the nation. The government has emphasized the need to implement policies that are timely, humane, and effective, ensuring that beneficiaries receive proper care and support.
The program also seeks to strengthen national unity by encouraging participation in movements that promote gratitude and remembrance. These activities are designed to align with Vietnam’s cultural traditions while fostering patriotism and civic responsibility among citizens.
In addition, the government plans to enhance infrastructure and memorial systems dedicated to martyrs. This includes constructing a national memorial, upgrading existing sites, and improving care facilities for those who have contributed to the revolution, ensuring better living conditions across the country.
Public awareness campaigns will be carried out through both traditional and digital platforms, including media coverage, exhibitions, and educational activities. These efforts aim to share inspiring stories and reinforce the importance of remembering the nation’s history.
The commemorative program will also include nationwide ceremonies such as candlelight tributes, memorial services, and special events honoring outstanding individuals and organizations. The government believes these activities will not only pay tribute to the past but also inspire future generations to contribute to the country’s development.
