Vietnam has officially launched a new version of its National Database on Law, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation of its legal system. The upgraded platform aims to provide easier access to legal documents and improve transparency for citizens, businesses, and government agencies.
The launch ceremony was attended by Le Tien Chau, who inaugurated the system at the Ministry of Justice in Hanoi on April 23, 2026. The event also included the introduction of an information system designed to support the comprehensive review of legal documents nationwide.
The new version of the database represents a complete restructuring of legal data, allowing information to be organized down to specific articles, clauses, and points. This structured format enhances the system’s ability to process and deliver information efficiently in a digital environment.
Authorities emphasized that the platform now uses standardized legal language aligned with advanced global systems. This allows the database to function not only as a repository but also as a connected digital tool capable of integrating with other platforms and supporting automated data processing.
The system has been developed as a unified national database, ensuring that accurate and timely legal information is available for governance, research, and public use. It also supports tracking changes in regulations, helping users better understand the evolution of laws over time.
Officials highlighted that the upgraded database will play a crucial role in managing a large volume of legal documents and ensuring consistency during the nationwide review of the legal system. It also supports activities such as drafting, inspection, and dissemination of legal information.
Looking ahead, Vietnam plans to expand the platform into a comprehensive digital legal knowledge system. Future developments include the integration of artificial intelligence, the creation of a national legal big data platform, and the development of interconnected legal data ecosystems to better serve society.
